How To Make The Fringe Of The Valentine Blanket

How To Make The Fringe

Be sure to count the number of loops on the first side
and have them equal the number of loops you put on the other side.  Make sure your loops equal out on both sides of each side.

Evenly Spread Across
4 - corners are bright pink - 15 loops each - two loops are tied in the front to form a bow.
2 small rows edges are light pink - 30 loops each.
2 small rows edges are white - 60 loops in each
2 large white edges - 90 loops each
1 large middle section of bright pink - 90 loops
On Both Sides

P/16 Crochet Hook

In the picture above is the edge of my blanket.
If the edge is white the fringe is to be white.
If the edge is pink then the fringe is to be pink.
Along the edge, there are holes sometimes they
are bigger and sometimes they are smaller. Every hole on the edge
will be filled with loops.  Sometimes only two loops fit
and sometimes five.  Fit in as many as you can.
But do it evenly across.  Add another row if necessary
to get in the number of loops your suppost to have.

When you start your fringe attach the matching color.
I used double threads throughout this whole afghan.
You can refer back to my last two posts to see
the Afghan I've been working on.

Here is the Afghan I've been working on
Here is the hearts: Making The Hearts

So attach your double thread to the edge. Then chain 15.  Then attach by
making a loop of the chain into the very bottom of your chain 15.
Keep your threads firm but not too firm.
SC into the same edge hole - count the SC as a chain 1
and chain 14.  Then again make a loop
in the same way I communicated to you before.

Go to a new space when you see there's not any more space
for any more loops.  You will enter a new space with a SC.
That SC will count as one chain.  Then chain 14.
Continue to fill that space up with chains.

Be sure to attach the chain to the bottom of the
chain itself and then attach the loop to the place
you put the chain with a single crochet. This holds your loop into place

Remember if you need to make another row of loops cut off
at the end and use the same color to start another row at the beginning of that color of loops again.
Below the loops you already made are strings you can go under with your hook
SC there then chain 15 make your loop go all the way across
as you did before until you reach the number of loops for that color.

When you are changing color, tie off  the color you've been using,
Join on the new color and chain 15.  Then fill those edge spaces with loops
until you come to a new edge color.  Then do the same.

Each time you change the color tie the two different colors together.  It is the loose ends
that will later be weaved into your work.  If you want to do that immediately
that is your choice.  I'm going to go back and tie mine in
at the completion of my loop trim.

As soon as I finish this edge
by hiding the threads
and sewing on the hearts on by hand.
I may also put embellishments
 on the hearts.

I will show you the completed Afghan
When I complete it.

Below attaching the chain to the bottom of the chain itself
Then attach it again where you started the chain with a single crochet.
Sometimes you'll need to attach somewhere else with a SC to
control where your loops are.
