Western Plastic Canvas Pillows

All 5 are stitched with the same stitches:

**Continental Stitch for fill, Bargello for feathers, and Turkey Knot / Tassel for fringe.**

### Pillow 1: LEFT - Large Square Owl Portrait (22" x 22")

**Canvas:** Cut 2 pieces 24x24 holes

**Row counts from bottom up:**

- Rows 1-4: Cream border - Continental all around

- Row 5: Rust/Turquoise zigzag border

- Center chart (18x20 holes):

  ```

  Owl Body: Chocolate triangles (Row 6-12)

  Owl Eyes: 2 circles, each 4 holes diameter

    - Outer ring Turquoise, Middle ring Cream, Inner Chocolate, Pupil Black

  Beak: Black V - 2 holes

  Ears / Feathers on top: 3 small turquoise feathers - 2x4 holes each

  Left chest feathers: Turquoise 2x5, Cream 2x4

  ```

- After stitching front, whip-stitch to back piece, leave bottom open for 22" insert, add 1" fringe on bottom edge alternating Rust/Turquoise.

### Pillow 2: TOP MIDDLE - Lumbar Aztec (28" x 16")

**Canvas:** 30x18 holes

**Pattern Repeat:** Classic Southwestern diamond

Center diamond:

- Row 9: Center 1 hole Turquoise

- Expand by 2 each row outward alternating: Rust, Cream, Turquoise, Chocolate

- Max width at Row 14: 13 holes wide

- Mirror to close diamond

- Background: Cream Continental

- Border triangles: Rust and Turquoise small triangles at corners

- Bottom edge: Add 1" loop fringe - cut 30 pieces of 3" yarn (Rust/Cream/Turquoise), loop through bottom holes

### Pillow 3: TOP RIGHT - Round Owl Medallion (20" diameter)

**Canvas:** Cut 2 circles 22 holes diameter (trace a dinner plate, cut jagged then whip-stitch smooth)

**Chart for front:**

- Center Owl: 10 holes tall, 8 holes wide

  - Head: Cream base, Turquoise brow stripes

  - Body: Chocolate with Cream/Turquoise small triangles

  - Feet: Black - 3 stitches each

- Outer ring: 2 rounds of Rust/Cream Aztec diamond border

- Edge: Turkey stitch fringe all around - 1" long, mix Rust/Turquoise/Cream

### Pillow 4: BOTTOM MIDDLE - Feather Wreath (22" x 22")

**Canvas:** 24x24 holes

**This is the most complex:**

Center large feather (vertical):

- Stem: Straight stitch Chocolate, 8 holes long

- Left side feathers: Rust - slant stitch 4x2

- Right side: Turquoise - slant stitch 4x2

4 corner feathers:

- Each 6 holes long, angled to center

- Color alternation: Top Left Rust, Top Right Turquoise, Bottom Left Turquoise/Brown mix, Bottom Right Rust

Border:

- Outer 3 rows: Rust zigzag Bargello - over 2 holes, up 1

- Edge: Add cream fringe 3/4" all around

### Pillow 5: BOTTOM RIGHT - Diamond Center (22" x 22") with Tassels

**Canvas:** 24x24 holes

**Center Diamond Pattern:**

- Row 1 (center): 1 Turquoise

- Row 2: 3 Turquoise

- Row 3: 5 Turquoise with Rust outline

- Row 4-10: Expand with layers: Turquoise inner, Rust middle, Chocolate outer, Cream background

- At widest (Row 10): 21 holes

- Add 4 small diamonds in corners, 5 holes each, Rust/Cream

- 4 tassels: Make 4 tassels 3" long (wrap yarn 20x around cardboard, tie top, cut bottom) in Rust/Turquoise, attach with needle to each corner hole

**Finishing ALL 5:**

1. Spray with fabric stiffener

2. Whip-stitch front to plain canvas back (cream yarn)

3. Leave 8" opening, insert 24" pillow form or fiberfill, close

4. For true plastic-canvas look: Leave back of stitches visible inside - do NOT line unless you want it soft
